Mayor Bowser to Highlight District’s Efforts to Prevent Opioid Addiction and Overdose

Thursday, July 13, 2017

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, July 14, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will announce the distribution of an additional 2,500 naloxone kits to combat the unprecedented epidemic of opioid use and harm in the District. In 2016, the District distributed 1,000 naloxone kits that saved at least 290 residents from overdosing. As part of a broad, coordinated response that integrates public health, healthcare and law enforcement, naloxone kits includes a nasal spray that reverses opioid overdoses.
