The following dashboards provide access to data on the health and safety of our community through the District’s specialized surveillance tools. These resources track key wellness indicators to help residents and policymakers better understand the evolving needs of all eight wards.

Opioid Overdose Dashboard
This dashboard provides in-depth analysis surrounding events and characteristics of individuals who experienced non-fatal and/or fatal opioid overdoses in the District of Columbia. It includes data on ambulance transports for overdoses, fatalities, naloxone distribution, harm reduction efforts and the results of our used syringe testing. This dashboard is a collaborative effort between DC Health, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Department of Behavioral Health and Department of Forensic Sciences.

DC Firearm Injury Surveillance Dashboard (FASTER)
This dashboard displays surveillance information of firearm injury visits to the city’s seven emergency departments.Timely reporting at the city level through FASTER, allows the District to detect surges in gun violence, monitor the victimization of at-risk groups, and understand trends in firearm injury.

This dashboard provides an overview of cold-exposure and hypothermia-related responses by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the District of Columbia. These data include the daily breakdown of cold weather-related EMS responses with patient demographics of those most affected. Additionally, there is a map of cold weather-related incidents by Health Planning Neighborhood.

Heat-Related Responses by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the District of Columbia
This dashboard provides an overview of heat-related responses by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the District of Columbia. These data include the daily breakdown of heat-related EMS responses with patient demographics of those most affected by extreme heat. Additionally, there is a map of heat-related incidents by Health Planning Neighborhood with District Cooling Centers overlaid.

Measles, Mumps and Rubella Rates by School
This dashboard displays immunization compliance data taken from the District of Columbia Immunization Information System (DOCIIS). It reflects the total number of students enrolled in public (DCPS), public charter, private, and parochial schools, from preschool to 12th grade who are compliant with the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Population Health
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
The BRFSS provides health data on chronic health conditions, preventive screenings, health care coverage, risk behaviors, societal and environmental factors that impact an individual’s health and quality of life. The DC BRFSS is conducted to 4,000-4,800 residents annually in all eight city wards. This research is conducted in collaboration with the CDC.

DC Healthy People Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) are the top twenty population health objectives prioritized by residents and community partners that are monitored over time. They give us an idea of how well we are doing in different areas and can guide and help us understand the impact of collective actions across the city.

PRAMS is an ongoing, population-based survey of residents who delivered a live-born infant. PRAMS collects data on maternal behaviors and experiences from preconception to the postpartum period.
