Proposed Health Systems Plan Second Public Hearing for the District of Columbia
The DC State Health Planning and Development Agency will hold a second public hearing on the proposed Health Systems Plan for the District of Columbia. The hearing will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 6 pm, at 899 North Capitol Street, NE, 6th Floor, Room 6002, Washington, D.C. 20002.

FDA & CDC Issue Blood Lead Test Safety Alert for Certain Lead Tests Manufactured Magellan Diagnostics

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, May 23, 2017 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued a blood lead test safety alert stating that certain lead tests manufactured by Magellan Diagnostics may provide inaccurate results for some children and adults in the United States. When performed on blood drawn from a vein, these particular machines may provide results that are lower than the actual level of lead in the blood.

Health Departments Investigating Potential Measles Exposures

Washington, DC – The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in collaboration with the Health Departments in Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia, is, out of an abundance of caution, informing people who were in certain locations including areas of Prince George’s Hospital Center (at specific times during May 9-13) and Children’s National Medical Center (specifically on May 13) about potential exposure to measles. While most individuals in the United States are vaccinated against measles, exposure to it poses potential risk to those who have not been vaccinated.
