on December 1 to remember those
lost to the disease, to raise awareness
about HIV, as well as to find out about
protecting yourself and others from
becoming HIV infected. For many people the day is associated with the red ribbon, an instantly recognizable symbol. Wearing a red ribbon is asimple way to show your support.
DOH Closed for Professional Meeting
The District of Columbia Department of Health will be closed Thursday, October 8 starting at 12 pm so staff can participate in a professional meeting. Nomal hours will resume on Friday October 9, 2015. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The 3rd Annual DC WIC Breastfeeding Event
The District of Columbia Department of Health WIC State Agency hosted their 3rd Annual DC Breastfeeding Event this August in honor of National Breastfeeding Month. The event was held at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, DC. The event celebrated breastfeeding families, featured the importance of family support in breastfeeding and encouraged work place support for mothers who are breastfeeding and going back to work. The event included exhibits, plenary sessions, and break out educational sessions on breastfeeding topics.

On September 12, 2015 at 9 am please join Mayor Muriel Bowser along with Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, Director of the DC Department of Health (DOH), Mr. Keith Anderson, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and your Ward 6 FitDC Coach Chris Doenlen at the Rosedale Community Center to participate in a 1.5 mile walk in and around your neighborhoods as part of the FitDC health and wellness initiative.

On October 10, 2015 at 9 am please join Mayor Muriel Bowser along with Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, Director of the DC Department of Health (DOH), Mr. Keith Anderson, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and your Ward 4 FitDC Coach Carrye Brown at the Takoma Community Center to participate in a 1.5 mile walk in and around your neighborhoods as part of the FitDC health and wellness initiative.
Ward 3: FitDC Walk
On September 26, 2015 at 9 am please join Mayor Muriel Bowser along with Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, Director of the DC Department of Health (DOH), Mr. Keith Anderson, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and your Ward 3 FitDC Coach Philip Thomas at the Chevy Chase Recreation Center to participate in a 1.5 mile walk in and around your neighborhoods as part of the FitDC health and wellness initiative. This effort is part of the Mayor’s commitment to a fresh start in health and wellness in Washington, DC.

On July 25, 2015 at 9 am please join Mayor Muriel Bowser along with Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, Director of the DC Department of Health (DOH), Mr. Keith Anderson, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and your Ward 2 FitDC Coach Aimee Stoltz at the Jellef Recreation Center to participate in a 1.5 mile walk in and around your neighborhoods as part of the FitDC health and wellness initiative.
