Title V Funded Efforts and Resources

El Camino: The Road to Healthy Relationships Curriculum

Title V provided funding to the Office of Human Rights (OHR) to decrease incidents of bullying and other forms of interpersonal violence by developing a series of ten lessons to help middle school students learn how to incorporate technology and social media in a healthy and supportive manner. OHR partnered with Child Trends and adapted an existing evidence-informed curriculum aimed at reducing teen pregnancy, El Camino, for use with District middle school students. By the end of Fiscal Year 2020, the El Camino: The Road to Healthy Relationships curriculum was finalized. The curriculum focuses on healthy relationship building and provides children with the skillset necessary to establish personal boundaries and effectively communicate their needs.

The full El Camino: The Road to Healthy Relationships curriculum is available online for staff working with children, which includes a training manual and a recorded webinar providing an overview of each lesson. For a brief summary of the curriculum, please see the Fact Sheet.

For more information, please see Child Trend's Newsletter.

Navigation Tool for Youth in Families in DC
The Title V program provided funding to support the National Alliance for the Advancement of Adolescent Health (NAAAH) to develop resources to assist in transition from pediatric to adult care. NAAAH developed a tool intended as a starting point for families of transition-aged youth to learn about what public services are available in DC as youth transition into adult services. The tool can be found here: Navigation Tool for Youth and Families in DC Moving from Child to Adult Public Program Services.
