Most of the grant awards received by the District are from federal agencies. The funds received from federal grantors are authorized by federal legislation and are considered to be important components of large federal health initiatives.
DOH also receives funds from private organizations. These are not considered grants, but donations. This process is monitored carefully and by mandate by the Office of the City Administrator and a Donation Manager appointed by the Mayor of the District of Columbia.
FY 12 Donations (as of March 2012)
DOH does not solicit donations but may apply for private funds only with the written approval of the Donation Manager.
