Pharmaceutical Detailer Renewal Deadline Extended to April 30, 2012

Due to the Criminal Background Check, the pharmaceutical detailer license renewal deadline has been extended to April 30, 2012.

Pharmaceutical Detailer Renewal Deadline Extension

Dear Colleague,

Due to issues in processing Criminal Background Checks, the deadline to renew your pharmaceutical detailer license has been extended to April 30, 2012.  You may renew your license online at www.hpla.doh.dc.gov. Select the option “Boards Due for Renewal” and follow the instructions. If you choose to use the paper-based renewal method, you may download an application from the website above or contact the Health Professional Licensing Administration to obtain a copy of the application at 1 (877) 672-2174.

The renewal fee is $175.00.  Fees for the Criminal Background Check are not included in the renewal fee.

Criminal Background Check Requirement
As of March 1, 2011, each applicant for renewal of a license, registration, or certification shall obtain State and FBI criminal background checks. A criminal background check shall be conducted in accordance with the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) policies and procedures and in an FBI-approved environment, by means of fingerprinting and National Criminal Information Center checks and procedures.  Information on obtaining a criminal background check is available online at http://hpla.doh.dc.gov/cbc Current estimated time to complete a criminal background check is 6-8 weeks.

Continuing Education Requirement
17 DCMR 8306 requires that an applicant for renewal of a license shall have completed a minimum of fifteen (15) contact hours of approved continuing education credit during the two (2) year period preceding the date the license expires. You must complete required continuing education during the period between March 1, 2010 - February 28, 2012.  Do not send continuing education statements of credit unless requested specifically during the audit period.  NOTE: Indicating that you completed the required continuing education hours if you have not, subjects you to disciplinary action.
