Responding to Letters of Concern (LOC) from the Board

LOC’s are non-public, non disciplinary letters that are issued on primarily two occasions:

When the Board closes a complaint, even though the standard of medical care may have been met, the patients expectations may not have been adequately met, raising a concern for the Board. In such cases, the Board will issue an LOC and request that the licensee review the case and develop a corrective action plan.

After reviewing the malpractice suit history on a licensee, the Board may have concerns about the outcome on a particular case, and issue an LOC. Examples of good responses to LOC’s have been provided.
