Monday, April 25, 2011
All are welcome to attend the upcoming briefing, April 28 from 5:30-7:30 pm, on the 4th floor conference room of DOH’s HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration (HAHSTA) located at 899 North Capitol Street, NE.

The DC Department of Health (DOH) announced today that it will host a public briefing on the Mayor’s fiscal year 2012 proposed budget for the agency in collaboration with the Fiscal Policy Institute.  All are welcome to attend the upcoming briefing that will take place on April 28, 2011 from 5:30-7:30 pm on the 4th floor conference room of DOH’s HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration (HAHSTA) located at 899 North Capitol Street, NE.

The open forum will feature an overview of DOH’s budget provided by DOH Director, Dr. Mohammad Akhter, and will include a question and answer session.

The meeting will focus on what DOH is doing to maximize efficiencies and ensure residents continue to receive the direct services they need in light of budgetary challenges.  Other topics include how DOH will enhance resources through collaboration with other organizations and agencies, and how the Department will go about informing and engaging the public on decisions that will have a direct impact on the community.

“It’s important for residents and constituents to be engaged in the budget process, so that they can have a complete understanding of how the FY 2012 budget might affect the community resources used to assist the hardworking people of our city,” said DOH Director, Dr. Mohammad Akhter.  “The more informed our community is, and the more opportunities residents have to become a part of this process, the better prepared we all will be to handle the District’s fiscal challenges as One City.”
