National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day
October 15 is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD). NLAAD was first observed in 2003 by the Hispanic Federation and the Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA). NLAAD is an opportunity to help address the disproportionate impact of HIV in Hispanic/Latinx communities, promote HIV testing, and stop HIV stigma.
National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day
This day is held to recognize the intersection between HIV and older adults.
The prevalence of HIV among older adults is reaching staggering rates. About 1 in 4 adults in the United States who are living with HIV infection are aged 50 or older. 18% of new HIV diagnoses occur among those aged 50 and older.

The theme for NWGHAAD 2023 is: Prevention and Testing at Every Age. Care and Treatment at Every Stage. OWH continues this theme to reemphasize the need to further prevention efforts and ensure equity in HIV care and treatment. It also reinforces the first 3 goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS), that focus on the prevention of new HIV infections, improving HIV-related health outcomes of people living with HIV, and reducing HIV-related disparities.
