February 7 is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), which was first observed in 1999. NBHAAD is planned by the Strategic Leadership Council each year. This observance is a day to acknowledge how HIV disproportionately affects Black people.

The first National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) was marked in 1999 as a grassroots-education effort to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS prevention, care, and treatment in communities of color.

Join the Fight to Stop TB!
In commemoration of World TB Day, this conference will address local efforts for the prevention and control of tuberculosis in the District of Columbia. Topics will include an overview of TB, TB diagnostics, the use of shorter regimens for treatment of LTBI, changes in reporting requirements, TB case management, and TB elimination.
World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. It’s also reserved as a day to bridge new and effective programs and policies across different sectors around HIV/AIDS.
The 2022 theme is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV”.

September 18 is National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAD). NHAAD brings attention to issues related to HIV among older Americans, including new infections among older adults and adults over 50 aging with HIV.

Faith plays a major role in the lives of many Americans, and this awareness day is intended to engage faith communities to work together to support HIV and AIDS education, prevention, treatment, and care to reduce and eliminate stigma and discrimination in their communities.
