For the past two years, the DC Department of Health has released statistics on HIV and AIDS to demonstrate the complexity and impact of the HIV/ AIDS epidemic. The District Government and its partners in the community have applied the data to drive and improve their programs. This 2009 Update shows that the hard work is paying off. Progress is being made to diagnose people earlier in their HIV disease, improve their connection to medical care and reduce the chances that their disease will get worse. Ending the epidemic will take more time, but the leadership, innovation and partnership arc in place to make Washington, DC a model city in taking on HIV.
