Carl Filler, MSW, serves as the Chief of Staff at the DC Department of Health (DC Health), bringing with him a wealth of experience as a seasoned public health administrator, advocate and researcher with two decades of diverse experience across government, non-profit and academic sectors.
During his tenure of three years at DC Health, Mr. Filler has played a pivotal role in advancing the agency's strategic priorities and shaping its policy agenda as the Director of Government Relations. Prior to his work at DC Health, he dedicated his efforts to advocating for criminal justice reform within state legislatures and served as a senior policy advisor in the Office of the Mayor for the City of St. Louis. His professional journey also includes various roles in non-profit organizations, government agencies and research positions, all focused on addressing critical public health challenges.
Mr. Filler holds a Master's in Social Work from the esteemed Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, complemented by a Bachelor's Degree in history from the University of Rochester. His multifaceted background and dedication to public health make him a valuable asset to the DC Health team and the broader community.
