Mission

Improve the health and well-being of all District residents by expanding access to quality care, disease prevention, and strengthening families and communities. We do this to advance health equity and ensure every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Bureaus

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Bureau 
The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Bureau works to promote safe and healthy behaviors and environments, improve early detection of cancer and chronic disease and support optimal disease management to avoid disease complications.  

Family Health Bureau 
The Family Health Bureau works to protect, promote and improve the health of families through screening and surveillance, education, community-clinical linkages, family strengthening programs, preventive services and positive youth development. 

Health Care Access Bureau 
The Health Care Access Bureau works to improve the availability and accessibility of primary medical care and dental services, and to prevent infectious diseases by maintaining high levels of vaccination. 

School Health Bureau 
The School Health Bureau works to promote a healthy learning environment and support the physical and emotional well-being of students through delivery of school health services by qualified professionals.
