Program Overview
To help residents access fresh, healthy produce at farmers’ markets, DC Health provides residents with benefits through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
Who is eligible to receive Farmers’ Market Benefits?
WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP):
- WIC FMNP provides pregnant women, new mothers, infants 6–12 months, and children up to the age of 5 with $50 to buy fresh, local fruits, vegetables, and cut herbs from approved farmers at participating farmers’ markets between June 1st and November 30th.

Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP):
- SFMNP provides Seniors, 60 years and older, with $50 to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, cut herbs and honey from approved farmers at participating farmers’ markets between June 1st and November 30th.
- • To receive senior farmers’ market benefits, you must be enrolled in or on the waitlist for the Grocery Plus program.

What do my farmers’ market benefits look like?
WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP):
WIC farmers’ market benefits are available through a QR code. Once you have received your QR code from your WIC clinic, please follow these steps to use your benefit:
- Visit a farmers’ market in DC or MD and pick out your fruits, vegetables and cut herbs with an authorized farmer.
- Present your QR code when you are ready to check out.
- Allow the farmer to scan your QR code with their tablet or device.
- Enter your date of birth (MMYY) or PIN.
- The farmer will enter the price and click submit purchase.
- Transaction complete!
Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP):
Senior farmers’ market benefits are available through a Produce Pass benefit card. Once you have received your card from your Grocery Plus site, please follow these steps to use your benefit:
- Visit a farmers’ market in DC or MD and pick out your fruits, vegetables, cut herbs and/or honey with an authorized farmer.
- Present your Produce Pass benefit card when you are ready to check out.
- Allow the farmer to scan the barcode on your card with their tablet.
- The farmer will enter the price and click submit purchase.
- Transaction complete!
